So I got my first Coffee Lake & Z370 combo yesterday and of course the first thing I did was install macOS on it to mess around and figure out how to get full iGPU acceleration working.
Coffee Lake UHD 630 Graphics Sleep in High Sierra
I left my computer for a bit and when I came back of course the hackintosh was asleep since I forgot to disable sleep which is what you do on a hackintosh when iGPU is used to avoid the black screen issue on wake on HD530/HD630
Out of habit I shaked the mouse as I usually do with a dGPU plugged in and to my shock my hackintosh actually came out of sleep over integrated graphics. I know it was asleep because the fans were off. I was like WTF proceeded to sleep it 5 more times to make sure I was seeing things.
So that there you go I can confirm UHD 630 Coffee Lake iGPU sleep/wake works in High Sierra without the black screen problem. So if you want a super small HTPC hackintosh in a case that doesn’t fit a graphics card or don’t want to shell out more money for a dGPU for sleep it’s now a possibility 🙂
