Whatever ASRock did for their Kabylake motherboard lineup has made them super easy to get working as a Mac Hackintosh. I’ve been using an ASRock H270-ITX/ac as part of my new mini hackintosh build for a couple days now.
It’s proving itself to be very reliable for a hackintosh. I’ve experienced no hiccups and I’m impressed with how smooth it runs in day to day use. I dare say that I prefer it for a hackintosh over ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards, which is what I’ve been using for all my previous builds. I even feel like it runs just a little bit better than my Gigabyte Z270-D3H Hackintosh
In the past ASRock motherboards were not very good for building a successful hackintosh. They were plagued with problems and sleep would never work without issues. That appears to no longer be the case, whatever they did now makes puts them up there with Gigabyte for making a golden hackintosh build. ASRock also prices their motherboards lower than Gigabyte and more so ASUS.
ASRock Hackintosh Guide
I will be posting a guide shortly on my ASROCK H270-ITX mac hackintosh build. Surprising sleep works OOB. I didn’t need to make any changes to the config.plist, not even darkwake=0 was required. Of course a graphics card is needed to get sleep working. As all hackintoshers know sleep won’t work on the integrated Intel HD530/HD630 graphics.
When I post the guide it will likely work for different ASRock motherboards. If you want a motherboard thats bigger and badder than the one I picked that’s fine. It’s likely to work as long as you stick to ASRock’s 200 series motherboards since they are all very similar.
