Overview

This is my first successful hackintosh High Sierra build (17G65). Only reason why my post got delated was that I was having issues with UH630 graphics driver getting acceleration under Mac. Adding used 750 ti from AliExpress fixed my issue.

Components Used.

MotherBoard:-- Asus B360M-A Coffeelake

This is the cheapest and the best motherboard under B360. ASUS and Gigabyte are the best when it comes to hackintosh.

Motherboard

Hard Disk:-- Crucial MX300 500GB Sata SSD

Cheap and best SSD for price. I had no issues related to HDD during the installation.

Hard Disk

Memory:-- G Skill Ripjaws 2400 Mhz 16GBx1

One good thing with this memory is that it's natively recognised by Mac OSX High Sierra.

Memory

Case:-- Cooler Master MasterBox Lite RGB with tempered glass side panel.

A great case with good looks and great cooling.

Case

Graphics Card:-- Asus Nvidia Geforce 750 Ti (2Gb)

Graphics Card

Monitor:-- Dell 2240 L IPS Monitor

Monitor

Power Supply:-- Corsair VS550

Power Supply

Bios Settings.

1. Sata setting should be AHCI. Otherwise hard disk will not show up during installation.

2. Select PCI Express as the display. 32 MB DVMT which is the minimum should be selected. MultiDisplay should be disabled.

3. UEFI boot with CSM disabled and secure boot keys if any should be removed.

4. XMP profile needs to be selected if the memory supports XMP.

5. Bios needs to be upgraded to the latest.

6. Except the above settings no other settings needs to be changed.

How to make ASUS 750ti work under High Sierra.

Download latest version of NVFLASH and flash MSI VBIOS 82.07.55.00.36

Kext files required

1. fakesmc.kext-- without this no hackintosh

2. usbinjectall.kext--makes sure that your USB ports are working properly.

3. applealc.kext-- fixes issue with sound ALC887

4. RealtekRTL8111.kext-- Network driver

5. whatevergreen.kext-- Fixes your display issues.

Drivers Required

1. apfs.efi-- For Apple filesystem
2. emu variable.efi-- Nvidia support requires this

Things to be done during installation.

1. Format installation drive as APFS.

Things to be performed post installation

1. Install Nvidia web drivers. Make sure that Nvidia webdrivers as well as nada_drv=1 is enabled in clover.

2. In order to make audio work make sure that Reset HDA with value 1 is selected under audio section in clover.

Notes: I haven't checked iMessage and related things. So I cannot comment on the same.

For sleep to work properly make sure that no usb devices except mouse/keyboard receiver is connected to the computer.

If you need any help with the build, please let me know. I am more than happy to help :).

Hello hallowen

I am trying to decide if I should get the same motherboard as yours. I saw your posts in some german forums where you have asked about support of UHD630 and I could not find any more details about it. To me, it seems like an issue with the motherboard.
Could you please confirm?
I don't want to step onto a landmine and end up with the need to get an additional graphics card to get the system working properly.

Hi Krystians,

UHD630 is not yet working for B360m-a prime. Problem is it will get detected but there will not be any acceleration. That is the reason why i went for a 750ti used card. Apart from this issue there is no issue with the setup. High Sierra as well as Sierra is working well on this setup. I am using this as my daily driver.

Please check the below links as well. It will help you.

Have you seen this:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/h370-b360-and-h310-motherboards.249825/page-2#post-1732214
?

It looks like it's a matter of changing some framebuffer settings.
In my case both nvidia and intel gets detected and intel also shows that there is graphics acceleration. But the issue is that once graphics acceleration is enabled. I am not able to use the display that is connected to intel.

Following 2 things might be the reason

1. Different port mapping configs in different motherboards or series of motherboards.

2. Different framebuffer settings.

@hallowen Thanks so much for posting all of this! I'm about to undertake a B360M-A build but with some fear, most people insist on choosing a Z370 instead for a Hackintosh. Couple of questions for you that would make things easier for me:

1. Do you think Mojave would work too or just High Sierra?
2. So does the onboard GPU not work at all and I'll need to get an external one for anything to display? Or is it only GPU acceleration that won't work, but GPU still functions? Bit confused about that ...
3. If I get stuck with my build, where do you recommend I go for advice? Maybe you can help with some tips if that happens?

Thanks!!

Hello,
I have a similar Motherboard (Gigabyte B360M) and an i8-8100 CPU.
I have the GTX-1060 graphics card, which works perfectly under MacOS 10.13.6.
Everything is working like a charm except sleep. If I send my computer to sleep I can't wake it up. I can hear the fans stop once it is in sleep, and spin up when I touch my mouse, however the display just keeps blank. I wonder if there is any workaround there to solve my issue.

I have HibernationFixup, FixShitdown checked in clover. No change at all.

@ Xors, change the following in your config.plist:
  • Use 'NeverHibernate' not 'HibernationFixup'
  • Use 'darkwake=10' boot argument
  • You shouldn't need 'nvda_drv=1' boot argument if you are using the Nvidia Webdrivers and have 'NvidiaWeb' option selected on System Parameters tab. I have a GTX 1060 and a GTX 980 Ti and don't need that boot argument on either of my iMac 1 & iMac 2 Hacks.
