@DAFFY here is a generic Coffee Lake (CFL) OC 0.7.1 EFI folder, which I created using the Dortania guide.

The /EFI/OC folder contains two config.plist files. The alternate config is for a CFL system using just the IGPU. So if you are not using a discrete GPU you need to rename and use the alternate config.

You will need to add the PlatformInfo > Generic - iMac SMBIOS MLB, ROM, Serial Number and SystemUUID to the config.plist.

See if that helps.

The EFI folder above is wrong for your Z370 board. As it contains the SSDT-PMC.aml which doesn't work with Z370 Boards.

Here is a revised EFI folder for you to try with your Z370 CFL board.

I changed the Ethernet kext from IntelMausi.kext to AtherosE2200Ethernet.kext to match your motherboard's LAN port.

You need to add the MLB, ROM, Serial Number and SystemUUID to the config.plist, and rename the folder to EFI.

Is that the same error? I can't see what is causing the error from the screen image you provided.

  1. Do you have Windows installed on a drive in this Coffee Lake system?
  2. Is the proposed macOS drive the only drive installed in the system?
  3. Which type of drive(s) are present in the system?
I assume you have set the Bios to work with macOS. Can you check that these are the settings you are using.

Disable
  • Fast Boot
  • Secure Boot
  • Serial/COM Port/Super IO port
  • Parallel Port
  • VT-d
  • CSM
  • Thunderbolt
  • Intel SGX
  • Intel Platform Trust
  • CFG Lock (MSR 0xE2 write protection) This must be off, if you can't find the option then enable AppleXcpmCfgLock under Kernel -> Quirks. Your hack will not boot with CFG-Lock enabled
Enable
  • VT-x
  • Above 4G decoding
  • Hyper-Threading
  • Execute Disable Bit
  • EHCI/XHCI Hand-off
  • OS type: Windows 8.1/10 UEFI Mode
  • DVMT Pre-Allocated(iGPU Memory): 64MB
  • SATA Mode: AHCI
Your system may not have all these settings, some may be hidden within other settings, CSM and UEFI booting being the ones to spring to mind.

You will also need to make sure your Graphics options are set correctly, i.e. Intel graphics enabled, and IGPU, IGFX, Internal set as default, so your IGPU is priority graphics option.

So you already have High Sierra installed? Does it boot with a previous EFI?

Is this an Upgrade to Big Sur or a Clean install on the Z370 Coffee Lake system?

i have High Sierra but that boots with Clover. This is a clean install of BigSur on the Z370.

Post a copy of the CLOVER folder but remove the MLB, ROM, Serial number etc. before you do so. I would like to see what you are using to boot High Sierra on this system

Didn't I create an OC EFI folder for this system, back then? Did it work with macOS?

Hi Edhawk, no you didn't create a OC EFI for this system, or at least I can't remember.
I'm having problems with my RX580 In my AMD machine and with prices at the moment for GPU's im not replacing yet..

I've just looked and I don't think you sent me a OC EFI for this system
