Hi guys,

I wonder if someone could check my EFI folder and config.
My setup is running fine most of the time but sometimes the kernel_task (in activity monitor) spikes to 80-110%. My cursor starts to jump when moving my mouse and a few seconds later my system freezes.
This happens randomly. I quickly restart my system when my cursor starts to act weird.

Here is a revised CLOVER folder for you to use. It is based on the Folder I helped create for Abdo in the other EFI check post. But with the following amendments:
  1. SSDT-RX580 removed from /Clover/ACPI/patched folder, as you have a Radeon VII dGPU
  2. Other SSDT's for Z390 Designare added to patched folder, including UIAC for USB configuration.
  3. Replaced config.plist with new config, again based on Abdo's config, which was fully tested and found to be well suited to this build.
  4. SMBIOS set for iMac 19.2 to match Apple's use of this CPU.
  5. New serial, Board Serial number, which was populated to the MLB and generated new ROM
  6. Checked Serial number with Apple Support it is not being used by a real Mac, so should be fine for imesage, iCloud etc.
Replace the Clover folder on your USB with the one attached below. Use the whole CLOVER folder not just the config.

Hope this helps.

It may need tweaking as you have a Radeon VII but it should get you to the installation wizard ok.

Thank you!

I'm going to test it right away!

- Update -
I replaced my clover folder and did a reboot. It is starting faster then before.
The only thing I noticed is that my 2 USB 2 port on the back aren't working anymore. The 2 on the front are ok.
So far so good... didn't have a freeze...

I have attached SSDT-UIAC-Designare-Z390_v2.aml for you to use in palce of the other SSDT-UIAC.aml. This one has the intrernal header/case ports correctly identified as insternal.

Copy the SSDT-UIAC-Designare-Z390_v2.aml to your /CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder, and remove the current SSDT-UIAC.aml.

This revised SSDT configures the USB ports for the Designare Z390 motherboard, as shown on the two attached imsages:

All motherboard USB ports_resize.png Designare Z390 motherboard USB ports

Designer Rear IO Layer v3_resize.png Designare Z390 rear I/O plate USB ports

Sorry for providing the wrong SSDT as part of the CLOVER folder in post #2.

Sorry for the late reply, I replaced the .aml file. The ports aren't working, do I also have to replace the .dsl?

No, you should not have any .dsl files in your CLOVER folder or any of the sub-folders. A .dsl file is a 'Disassembled ACPI table'.

Your system only uses the .aml file, which are ACPI Machine Language Binary files, i.e. compiled and error free custom ACPI tables.

I am assuming you mean you have copied the SSDT-UIAC-Designare-Z390_v2.aml provided above to your /CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder.

Can you boot in to Hackintool, navigate to the USB tab and post a screenshot of the USB ports shown, expand (drag the window to show all the USB ports).

Mine looks like this:
