Hi,

I've seen threads like this in the forum, but haven't been able to resolve the issue. I'm trying to install Catalina on my working Mojave box (stats in the sidebar but Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming, i7 8700K Coffee Lake 3.7, and Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580) but no matter what I do, I get stuck on this screen below. I've remade the install media several times in different ways, I've tried both Clover and Open Core, and I'm always stuck here. Could someone please help?

I've attached my OpenCore EFI folder

Sorry I would love to help you but I have absolutely no knowledge of the OpenCore EFI system.

You post a CLOVER folder and I may be able to get you up and running.

I figured it out - I was booting from an old version of clover on my drive rather than the newer version on my usb installer :(

I'm sure that is a common issue, most people don't realise they have changed the folder layout etc in the new versions of Clover.

If you post a copy of your bootlog I will have a look to see if your config.plist can be optimised for your system.

If you are running Mojave 10.14.5 or newer you should try the attached CLOVER folder in place of your current one.

I have optimised the folder for your motherboard, CPU and IGPU. The SMBIOS has been changed to iMac 19.2, as this is the Apple system that uses your CPU/IGPU.

If I reacll correctly this iMac was realesed with a Developer only version of Mojave 10.14.4, so the earliest it will work with is the public realese of Mojave 10.14.5.

It may need a couple of tweaks to get it running as well as it can.

I ahve included an additional USB 3 kext in teh /CLOVER/kexts/Other folder, one that is supposed to work with non-Intel USB ports. The kext is called mXHCD.kext. Your motherboard has 22 No Intel USB ports, with 4 No non-Intel (Asmedia & GENESYS LOGIC) ports. Depending on whether you need these 4 ports will set whether you install this kext or not.

This USB kext along with any other Third-Party kexts should once you have installed macOS be installed to the /Library/Extensions folder, as is the case with a real Mac. Here is a link to a guide that explains the reasoning behind using /Library/Extension folder - https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...an-sierra-high-sierra-mojave-catalina.268964/

I tried using the Clover you posted (by removing my existing clover folder and copying the clover folder from this zip into my existing EFI), and it boot well but I lost access to my BCM94360CD and none of my USB ports worked. I rebooted using my backup drive and then placed my old clover folder back. My guess is that I simply couldn't use USB without mXHCD in Library/Extensions and you didn't know about the Broadcom because I didn't mention it (I actually pulled out the included wireless chip from the motherboard so it would use the Broadcom).

I know this is me being stupid, but can you help me understand what I did wrong? Would it work if I re-copied your Clover folder into my EFI and also (as I'm booted into my install) copy mXHCD into Library/Extensions, and then reboot? And is there anything I should change to keep my broadcom working (and account for the fact that I removed the motherboard's default wireless)?

Thanks!

Install the USB kext mXHCD to /Library/Extensions folder, repair permissions and rebuild the kernel cache. So it is added to the cache.

i will have a look at the other issues on Wednesday.

I'm running Catalina by the way - any advice on how to improve my Clover (and get Sidecar working?)
