I have limited January budget, I can’t afford £1000 for 512GB real Mac mini. So I’m going to build mini Hackintosh with very similar specs that is upgradable

Final Spec:
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming ITX/AC
CPU: i7-8700
Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i Black
Ram: 2 x 16GB Crucial 2666
PSU: Pico PSU 250W with Dell 12v 18A Brick
HDD: 1TB Intel 660p Nvme SSD
WIFI/BT: BCM943224PCIEBT2 on M.2 NGFF adapter
Case: Chinese "Aluminium" ITX

Cost less than 1/3 of similar spec Mac mini

.
Case:

CPU didn’t arrived but Cooler did. Also Dell power brick is here 12v and 18A should be plenty overhead. I will be using 35W CPU.

Cpu cooler to big, fan blocking ram :( Returning, looking for one with smaller, round fan.

CPU arrived it’s a i3 8100T for the beginning, 35W quad core. Installation with guide on this page went nearly smooth, I had to replace AptioDriver on the final install boot. Everything works! Sleep, speed step, Ethernet, USB very nice and smooth

Good to hear.

If the only issue you faced during the build and installation was having to substitute a driver, then it indeed went smoothly.

Well done with the build.

The weird thing that only thing that boot without problem every time is older version of AptioMemoryFix and AptioInputFix not sure why.

I think you should remove XHCI-unsupported.kext from your package. It was causing wrong enumeration of S.S. ports in my build.

It works and is eseential for most 300-series motherboard. But may be the B300 series boards are different, as you are not the only person who had this USB3 port issue.

Thanks for sharing this information, it will probably help a number of other members.

No worries I have Z370 now by the way, I was able to configure my USB with Hackintool without that kext. With it SS Ports numbers didn't correspond to HS ones. Really wierd.

My board has a Thunderbolt 3.0 port but I don't think it works on my Hackintosh.

Forgot I also installed BCM943224PCIEBT2 on m.2 adapter as it's small, weirdly it needed AirportBrcmFixup.kext for wifi part to work, bluetooth worked otb

Thank you, I've installed Catalina with your guide. Fantastic work mate.

To complete this thread here are Geekbench 5 results, actually impressive for such small computer:

After few days it become apparent that having such small case means very high temps as cpu fan blows hot air into aluminium top cover which is 10mm above it. I’ve added small 60mm X 10mm quiet fan and that helped a bit but not enough. So I’ve ordered 3mm thick perforated aluminium sheet and made custom top. I think it looks good especially with small RGB strip 😉

I’ve added 8pin power adapter cable and now CPU is using Turbo more often.

Thunderbolt and display are now fully patched and working, Display over Thunderbolt (USB-C) also works, so I could in theory plug 3 4K screens to it (I'm happy with one 1440p :) )

I've just changed LED to green as on Apple devices, also I will be putting i9-9900 in it soon so it is now little Mac mini Pro with that grill. (Leds don't like to be photographed)
