That error is related to an incorrect setting in your bios.

Boot in to your bios and check that any of the following entries are set as shown below:

Change the following settings:
  1. Virtualization : Enabled
  2. VT-d : Disabled
  3. XHCI Hand-Off : Enabled
  4. Legacy USB Support: Auto/Enabled
  5. IO SerialPort : Disabled
  6. Network Stack : Disabled
  7. XMP Profile : Auto / Profile 1/Enabled
  8. UEFI Booting set to Enabled and set Priority over Legacy
  9. Secure Boot : Disabled
  10. Fast Boot : Disabled
  11. OS Type: Other OS
  12. Wake on LAN : Disabled
If using a Dedicated Graphics + Integrated graphics card:
  1. Integrated Graphics : Enabled
  2. Graphics: PEG/PCIe Slot 1
  3. Initial Display Output : PCIe 1 Slot
  4. DVMT Pre-Allocated : 128M or higher
If using just the Intel iGPU:
  1. Integrated Graphics : Enabled
  2. Graphics: IGD/Integrated/iGPU/CPU Graphics
  3. DVMT Pre-Allocated : 128M or higher
Then try booting your usb installer again.

I have attached a copy of your motherboard manual, in English.

DMVT - see bottom of page 44, you need to enable IGD Multi-Monitor for this option to appear in the bios. You may need to save and exit and renenter the bios, so you can change the Integrated Graphics Share Memory from 64mb to 128mb or greater.

For Virualization and Vt-d see page 54. These two items are under CPU Features. They should be Enabled and Disabled by default, so may not need any interation on your part.

CSM is for Windows 8/10, so EFI is the correct choice.

Post a copy of your current CLOVER folder and I will optimise it for your system.

Okay so no matter how many times I switched between PEG and IGD the max it would give me on either was 64 and I restarted my bios multiple times. Not really sure what I could be doing wrong. Thank you for your time though and here my clover file

If 64 is all it will allow you to set, go with that.

I have attached a revised CLOVER folder for you to use.

I have tweaked the drivers and kexts, changed the SMBIOS to better suit your system, added the USB port limit patches for Catalina plus a number of other fixes.

Let me know how you get on.

Whats the last thing you see before the screen goes blank?

Can you take a picture of the screen in Verbose mode?

Seen that error plenty of times before!

Try the CLOVER folder attached, in place of the one I previously provided.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. I have the same setup and working fine for the most part. I can only use HDMI with the 5700 xt. Vega worked better. I am doing the latest Catalina beta updates now to see if anything changes. I haven't booted on the mac side in a few weeks until bugs gets worked out with parallels etc..

Hi, I have a very similar build to what is listed in this thread, so thought posting my question here might be useful too.

My new build is running with everything working (multi screens, bluetooth, wifi, ethernet, sound, handoff, imessages, etc...)

My old GigaByte Mobo died recently and I was going to update it with a same brand but they were out of stock and I ended up going with the MSI... it was certainly a lot more problematic getting it running than any of my previous builds, but I am nearly there

A concern that I have is the one surrounding the use of OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi. I read that it can damage the system and is not included in recommended builds now. I believe from what I have read that this could be fixed by changing the slide value? or maybe using OpenCore instead of Clover... but still working on understanding that.

If someone could have a look at my EFI and give me any tips on optimising / fixing so that I can replace the above with maybe OsxAptioFix3 or similar I would really appreciate it.

Currently running Clover 5111, and the hardware listed in my profile to the left.

Thanks!!!!

@ajp001 I have had a look at your CLOVER folder and made a number of changes.
  1. I replaced the OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi driver with the FwRuntimeServices, OcQuirks.efi and OcQuirks.plist.
  2. I have deleted the DSDT from your /CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder.
    • The DSDT in the patched folder has not been patched and therefore doesn't need to be in this folder. The original DSDT table will be used.
  3. I have recreated the SSDT-EC.aml for your system using CorpNewt's SSDTTime script.
  4. I also created an SSDT-HPET in respect of IRQ clashes in macOS and an SSDT-Plug.aml in respect of the Plugin Type=1 option. These tables and the associated Clover config.plist rename patches are attached in the Results folder.
  5. I reviewed your DSDT and have enabled a number of rename patches, that your system requires.
    • I removed those that were unnecessary.
    • I added the rename patches generated by CorpNewt's SSDTTime script.
  6. I removed the Intel IGPU Devices > Properties entries in your config.plist, as your CPU doesn't contain an IGPU.
  7. I added the RadeonDeInit=true option for your Radeon RX580 dGPU.
  8. I added a number of kernel fixes, Apple RTC=true, AppleIntelCPUPM=true and KernelXCPM=true to the KextsToPatch section of your config.plist.
  9. I regenerated an SMBIOS for your system, same iMac 19.1 SMBIOS as before, but this one has all the fields in the SMBIOS filled. I used the new Board Serial Number to populate the MLB entry and regenerated the ROM entry.
See if this revised CLOVER folder and config.plist helps.

Use the whole CLOVER folder not just parts of it, as it is designed to work as one entity.

Thanks @Edhawk for your awesomely quick reply!!!

I gave that a whirl using the whole CLOVER folder and was unable to boot -

RROR allocating 0x11C00 pages at 0x0000000005fee000 alloc type 2
Couldn't allocate runtime area
boot failed will sleep for 10 seconds before exiting...

Error: Aborted returned from boot.efi

It is almost tomorrow here so I am gonna catch some sleep and have a look at what you did in detail in the morning, I had used SSDTTime earlier to make my SSDT-EC.aml, but didn't realise that I had IGPU stuff still left in there, thanks for picking that up.

Will take a fresh look in the morning, at least your post gives me something else to look at, every other attempt I have had at swapping out OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi has failed on this MSI board.

Thanks again for your assistance so far :)

Ok, the FwRuntimeServices.efi, OCQuirks.efi drivers and OCQuirks.plist haven't worked with your Z390 board.

Try the CLOVER folder attached, it contains the OsxAptioFixDrv.efi in place of the two drivers and plist named above. That is the only change to the folder contents.
