Hi, I hope you can help me

This thing is driving me crazy and I don't know what to do anymore.
I really need to monitor my GPU because I have to do some heavy work.
Lilu, VirtualSMC, SMCSuperIO and SMCProcessor (I don't know if I need them but ok) are updated.
On HWMonitorSMC2 I see the GPU but only VRAM data.
iStat Menus has no GPU Die or Proximity data.
OpenCore version is 0.7.1.
What can I do?
Thanks in advance

p.s. if the only solution is to switch to FakeSMC, can you tell me if there is an easy way just to give it a try without messing with everything?

I use HWMonitorSMC2 on my Hacks. I don't use or need FakeSMC.kext, so I don't think you should either.

I use the following (monitor related) kexts for my iMac1 system, which includes a Radeon RX 580:
  • ACPIMonitor.kext
  • Lilu.kext
  • SMCProcessor.kext
  • SMCSuperIO.kext
  • VirtualSMC.kext
These help provide the following graphics card details:

You could try adding the RadeonMonitor.kext to your bootloader's kext folder to see if that adds the necessary monitoring details you require. Copy of the sensor extensions including the Radeon kext are attached.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I already found this answer of yours among others on the internet and don't know what to think :\

I don't think there is a Sensor kext that works with the RX 5000 series of AMD GPU's and either of these hardware monitoring applications.

I'm not sure if an AMD Navi Sensor kext is a work in progress by any of the developers of these apps.
BTW, I already tried the Radeon kext but it doesn't get loaded...
I've not tried yet ACPIMonitor.kext but I suspect it only works with FakeSMC...
Are you sure it gets loaded on your system?
Because you might have everything work just because it's not a NAVI card :(

I tried every version lol really don't know what to do...
My system is ok and I'd really hate to mess everything up with fakeSMC...
The problem is that I don't know what would happen when my GPU gets too hot.
Would it slow down automatically in order to protect itself?
Would the computer turn off on its own?

p.s. please, can you check if
kextstat | grep ACPIMonitor
shows it's loaded?

Just to understand if you can, thanks

It's not loaded. I'll be removing the kext from my OC setup!

The GPU fan should be set to a stock profile, unless you have manually edited the profile in windows using the AMD GPU software.
  • The stock fan profile will emphasise quietness over cooling, it is the default for how AMD set their cards.
  • The fan(s) should cut in when the card gets to a specific temp, ramping up to 100% and maintaining that while the card is below the max temp/limit.
  • The card should have a cut off temp, where the card shuts down automatically, when the fan can no longer control the temp, and the max temp is being exceeded.
That is how it should work in theory, in practice who knows.

mate...I've been posting everywhere... I even sent a message to vit9696 about VirtualSMC :ROFLMAO:
The problem is I have not understood yet if it's possible or not... because if it isn't I'd give up of course...

I’m not sure it is with the sensor kexts currently available, but as you said you have to keep looking and asking.

The developer that created the method and applied it to HWmonitorSMC2 officially confirmed it's not possible :)
At least now I know lol
Thanks anyway!
