Howdy folks, since doing a clean install of Big Sur using opencore I notice that GPU temps are no longer available in HW monitor.

I have the VirtualSMC kext in my Kext folder, is there something simple I'm missing here?

Add RadeonMonitor.kext, which I have attached below to your /OC/Kexts folder and config.plist. See if that gives you what you need.

Still the same, the GPU temps are picked up in iStat menus so I'm guessing it's a big sur / HWmonitor quirk

I don't think it is a Big Sur issue, as my RX 580 shows up with temp etc. in HWMonitor, see the three screenshots below.

1. Screenshot 2021-11-19 at 15.45.04.png 2. Screenshot 2021-11-19 at 15.50.03.png 3. Screenshot 2021-11-19 at 15.54.50.png
  • The first image is of HWMonitor with RX 580 Temp (screenshot captured just after booting system).
  • The second image is of HWMonitor 5 minutes later,
  • The third image was captured approx 5 minutes later again.
The third image shows the normal running temp for my RX 580, when just browsing Forums using Outlook etc. i.e. 50-54 deg/C. I can't hear the fans on the dGPU at this temp.

These are the kexts I am injecting in Big Sur 11.6.1 via OC, they are the same kexts I used when running Catalina on this system.

Screenshot 2021-11-19 at 15.47.29.png /EFI/OC folder tree, with Kexts folder expanded.

I must have removed the RadeonMonitor.kext at some point. But I remember using it previously.

As you can see at the bottom of the three HWMonitor images it shows I am using HWMonitorSMC2 v2.4.9, which version are you using?

I use the version managed/Forked by CloverHackyColor - https://github.com/CloverHackyColor/HWMonitorSMC2

It is more likely to be an issue with the version of HWMonitor your are using as it is to be an issue with the OS.
