Hello guys!

Specification first:
Board: Asrock Z370 Pro4
Processor: 8600K
GPU: Gigabyte RX 580 8GB

History of versions:
I installed HighSierra a long time ago, then I moved to Mojave 10.14.2 and now I wanted to upgrade to a newer version.

Story:
As my Xcode was not able to upload application to my phone anymore, I decided to upgrade from 10.14.2 to 10.14.4 - and that was a mistake.
I knew that I have to upgrade Clover to the newest version, but while I was doing that I was receiving information that:
this package is incompatible with this version of mac os and may fail to install
(Actually it was always failing...)
So I did not upgrade it.
I decided to just upgrade kext files (Lilu.kext, WhateverGreen.kext, AppleALC.kext), and process with an update.

I did following patches:
Patch #1:
Name*: com.apple.iokit.IOUSBHostFamily
Find* [HEX]: 83FB0F0F 870B0400 00
Replace* [HEX]: 83FB3F0F 870B0400 00
Comment: USB Port Limit Patch 1 ©PMHeart
MatchOS: 10.14.4
Patch #2:
Name*: com.apple.driver.usb.AppleUSBXHCI
Find* [HEX]: 4183FF0F 0F839404 0000
Replace* [HEX]: 4183FF3F 0F839404 0000
Comment: USB Port Limit Patch 2 ©PMHeart
MatchOS: 10.14.4
Patch #3:
Name*: com.apple.iokit.IOUSBHostFamily
Find* [HEX]: 83E30FD3 E34109DF
Replace* [HEX]: 83E33FD3 E34109DF
Comment: USB Port Limit Patch 3 ©PMHeart
MatchOS: 10.14.4
NOW:
When I try to boot my hack, it loading very long, and after that, it is just displaying a black screen with the mouse cursor on it.

Notes:
1. I would like not to reinstall the system, as I have some projects that are only there (It was a mistake - I know)
2. I have access to VMware 10.12 - which cannot have new clover, because of the same error "incompatible with this version".
3. I do not have access to config.plist, it is on the MacOS SSD, and I cannot access it from that VM Machine.
4. Also, I do not have my old pendrive with settings from installing the os.

Any chances to solve that issue?
Thanks in advance
Daniel.

Try loading clover on a Usb drive and see if you can boot in with that.

Ok, I solved that:

So basically issue was that I treat Clover as a Mac OS software (Clover configuration actually is) than software (scripts?) that you need to install files on EFI partition - which was a mistake.

I fixed this by:
1. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard to recovery EFI content of my Mac OS drive.
2. In MacOS VM machine I updated that EFI content to the newer version.
3. Saved it into bootable Pendrive
4. Successfully booted from that USB drive, then saved it into my MacOS SSD

PROBLEM SOLVED, now everything is working as expected.

As I said, watch out for that step 3 while installing Clover, you should use your EFI partition instead of main MacOS, if you use Main MacOS then installation will always fail.

As others said, 10.14.4 needs new Clover - you cannot skip that...
